Using contemporary photography and digital editing techniques, Williams has created a body of work which is simultaneously quirky, timely, and starkly real. Her art explores a wide range of ideas; her interior struggles, queer and artistic network formation, contemporary race politics, and her relationships with Appalachia and its inhabitants all appear with equal likelihood in her body of work. Along with her art, Williams manages Southern Equality Studios, a project under the Campaign for Southern Equality which enables LGBTQ+ artists of all varieties across Appalachia and the South to explore the potentials of their work, refine their skills, and interact with fellow creative minds.
