Description
"Before World War II, the UMW owned a series of hospitals that provided healthcare for its members. After WWII, those hospitals were given to the government with the understanding that mine workers would have healthcare from cradle to grave." Today's version of that bill (S 1714; HR 2403) has bi-partisan support, but is being held up from making it to the floor for a vote by Senate Leader, Mitch McConnell, who is in the pockets of Alliance Coal. If he let's it go, it will pass. If he doesn’t, 89,000 UMW retirees will lose their healthcare benefts, 22,000 almost immediately.
